Torres

A 1-0 win over Marseilles. But the good news that we've qualified for round 16 is dampen by the fact that we will miss Torres for the next 3 weeks. Yup, that's the latest news on the Liverpool striker. So he will not be available for the game against West Ham, Blackburn and Hull with a 50-50 chance of making it at the Emirates. Not good.

Liverpool needs another striker. My choice would be Heskey. He is strong and would be a great foil for Keane and also Torres when he returns. But that can only happen in January. Until then, Liverpool will be left playing with Kuyt and Keane with Ngog on the bench. Let's hope that we continue the good start.

Keano...keano...keano!!!

Liverpool is back on top! 3 zip against WBA. Keano also scored his first goals for the Reds in the BPL. Good news all round.

Better news before that. MU lost 1-2 at the Emirates Stadium!

Lucky Liverpool

You can't deny it. Liverpool scrapped a draw at Anfeild via a dubious looking penalty 1 minute left in extra time. Chelsea on the other hand was blown apart by Roma 1-3 in Rome. If there is a patch that every team goes through in a season, I do hope the last 5 days was it. Bring on WBA and return to our winning ways!

Liverpool at White Hart Lane - The Morning After

It was billed as the clash between the table toppers against the bottom club. All facts that we had pointed to a Liverpool win. But alas, football is a funny game. With Harry breathing new life to the London club, they shocked the Reds 2-1. One would say, "so what?...its just the 10th game into a 38 game marathon" True, but being a club that have not won the Championship for the past 18 years, any hiccups would just be derailing that dream.

I am still pissed the morning after. Losing to a last minute goal after hitting the post several times is really, really disappointing. AM is disappointed too. He couldn't sleep until 5.30 am. I could relate to that. When I was his age, I would easily be affected. I think he has gotten that bug. After losing a big game, I would think and re-think what went wrong. Wait till AM actually plays football and he will relive the feeling himself. Winning every game is near impossible so this is a life experience.

Right now AM is avoiding newspapers just like I did then. Liverpool losing just made our weekend less happier.

Liverpool at White Hart Lane

Ef Cee U Kay...I can hear the cheers. Chelsea and Man U fans. Liverpool lose 2-1 to Spurs. The Reds hit the post 3 times. In control and then scored an own goal courtesy of Carra and in the 90th minute, Bently takes a speculative shot, Reina caught of guard, palms the shot, a Spurs fellow puts in back in the goalmouth and the Russian import stucks his boot and its 2-1. Shattering! And its 3.30 am in Kuala Lumpur!

So, Chelsea goes back to the top on goal difference. Man U are 3rd, 5 points behind but a game in hand. I don't know what Harry has gotten his new charges to drink but it seems to be working very well. Bottom of the table before the match. They've now become the first team to beat Liverpool. Harry's report card shows: 3 games...2 wins...1 draw. And I am just disgusted. Liverpool should've been up by 4 goals even before Spurs equalized.

Next Wednesday, its back at Anfeild for Atheletico Madrid. Then back to the BPL next week: Fixtures as follows:

Liverpool at White Hart Lane

Top of the table. Into the 10th match. And in a few hours, the Reds will step onto White Hart Lane as the No. 1 team in England and the only undefeated team in England. Last week, the Reds scored a 75th minute penalty to dispose of Harry Redknapp's former team, Pourtsmouth.

Thanks to the Gods of BPL fixtures, tonight Harry is plotting to avenge that defeat and also to become the first team to break that bubble. But can he? Truth be told that Spurs have found a second gear with Harry. 2 games so far under his belt and a win against Bolton and a draw with Arsenal away at the Emirates is promising, to say the least. But Liverpool, so far, this season has proven to be another team altogether. No one accused them of being lucky to win against Man U and Chelsea. They won games even when playing badly.

So, prediction? Liverpool to win by 2 goals.
